Spring is here
Posted on March 13, 2016 at 2:25 PM |
After a very wet winter we are ready for a little spring! Things have been busy here on the farm getting ready for kidding season. This year we will be kidding from spring thru summer, due to a young buck not sure if he had it right.
Shearing will start in another month. If you want a special fleece please let me know as they sell fast.
I will be vending again at the Middle Tennesee Fiber Festival in Dickson, Tn, this year with my friend Lisa Morris of Stickybear Creations. I'll be teaching a class all about Pygora on Friday am and Lisa will have all her lovely fiber prep equipment available for sale and to demo. Dates are May 27-28, 2016.
New for NW Ga, NE Al and So Tenn: we have a new fiber guild formed. The Artsy Fartsy Fiber Guild !!! Meetings are held monthly in Rome, Ga. Don't know how to spin? That's ok, we'll teach you. Want to learn how to weave? We can do that too. Not sure how to knit or crochet? We've got folks that can help you with that too. Come check us out! We're a fun group of folks.

First Time Ever Sale !!!
Fall is here and with it the reminder that we need to stock up more hay for winter. We need to sell a few of our wonderful Pygora goats to help make that happen. Our loss is your gain.
Check out the 4 Sale page for greatly reduced prices that you surely don't want to miss. We are offering for the first time a breeding trio! Great for those wanting to get started breeding Pygoras or established breeders that are ready for some new, quality bloodlines. Also available are wonderful wethers known for producing gorgeous spinning fleeces.
Fall is Coming

Though it's still plenty hot, the days are getting shorter. Fall and winter will be here before we know it. I love the fall, it's my favorite time of year. Warm days and cool nights. Beautiful colors everywhere. A lot of work goes into getting ready for the winter on a farm. It's hard to believe with all our lush grass that in a short time we will be in need of a lot of hay. So this is the time of year that you will see farmers haying all their fields. We will be selling some of our stock for hay money and so that we will have less goats to feed thru the winter. Take a look at our For Sale page and see if there is a goat that tickles your fancy!
With Sad Heart

We wish to express our sorrow to the Morris family that recently lost their wether, Pawsitive Plantation Gucci. He was such a wonderful soul with a fabulous fleece. He will be missed by all.
Kids and Spring!
Posted on April 26, 2015 at 2:15 PM |
Finally spring is here. We have just kidded our last kids this week. We have 7 kids in all. 4 doelings and 3 bucklings. 3 sets of twins and 1 single. One of the set of twins was born to Fiona, a first time mother! She has taken to motherhood with a vengeance, never leaving their side, talking to them constantly and nipping the cats if they get too close.
Check out all the pics under "Pygoras, the kids" at www.pawsitiveplantationpygoras.com
We are gradually having all our goats fiber tested by Yocum McCall testing labs to assure you the best qual;ity fiber and to help us in our decisions on breeding.
The last weekend in May will find me at the Middle Tennessee Fiber Festival in Dickson. I will be a vendor there and teaching a class, Fear No More. This is all about spinning ANY type of fiber.

In August, we will be traveling to the Michigan Fiber Festival to watch the PBA Pygora show. Also I will be picking up a new spinning wheel.http://www.michiganfiberfestival.info/

Cold & Wet Winter Blues
Posted on January 14, 2015 at 10:50 AM |
This winter has come in with a bang of cold and wet so hopefully will go out in a whimper. One can hope can't they?
Anyways, I'm very thankful that we decided not to breed till later so that we have a better chance this year of the kids being born in decent weather. We do have heated pens that we can bring them into but last year a couple surprised us by trying to have their kids outside in the cold.
The kids should start arriving by the end of March. Chanel looks as if she might have twins. Delilah and Fiona look bred. I'm not sure if Anastasia is. She's not very big but her belly is taught and she's always been the fittest.
One thing the winter is good for is getting any inside chores done that I don't normally have time for. It's also a great time to experiment with knitting and weaving ideas. I've started making my grand daughters hats with ears. The first one is a "Wolfie" hat that went to my youngest grand daughter for Christmas. The next is a "Polar Bear" hat that is going to my middle grand daughter for her birthday today. Will post that picture later.
Stay warm my friends!

Christmas season and thanks
Posted on December 12, 2014 at 12:20 AM |
As Christmas approaches so the season of festivals winds down for us. Last weekend I attended the Winter Art Market in Rome, Ga and had a good time despite the cold and rainy weather. This Saturday is the last of our events for the year. It's the open house for the Vision Gallery in Summerville, Ga. from noon till 4pm. I will be there doing spinning demos and showing off my new Pygora fingerless gloves. They are so soft and glamorous.
In the new year I will be teaching beginning weaving at the Vision Gallery. As soon as I have a date I'll let you know.
Also, since I've been asked for this numerous times, I'm going to try to start a fiber guild here in NW Ga. This will be a place that you can learn to spin, weave, knit or just share and have comraderie with other fiber fanatics.
I want to thank everyone for supporting me and our farm throughout this year. I've enjoyed meeting new friends and visiting with old. It's been great having you share your projects with me. Thank you.

Day 56 Chronicles of Showing
Posted on October 21, 2014 at 7:10 AM |
Only 4 days left till SAFF, the Southeastern Animal Fiber Festival and Pygora Goat show. Life on a farm is full of twists and turns. Sometimes it's full of joy and wonder, sometimes there is disappointment.
Our horse hurt her shoulder this summer and there hasn't been much improvement so she is going to see the vets at UT (Unniversity of Tennessee) for some chiropractic care and possible xrays.
Also, our dear old Angora goat, Yogi, has been having trouble standing for long. In the last week his back legs have given out on him. He can no longer stand. He is alert and eating but a goat needs to be able to move around and forage. So with heavy heart we must say good bye for now. We will hold him tight and love him.
It's been a hard decision but we have decided not to go to SAFF this year. Looking out at the goats, they look like they are all dressed up but have no prom to go to. We have decided to turn lemons into lemonade. This weekend we will be shearing everyone. Then the ladies will get turned into the pasture with Buckley. Let the breeding begin. We're sure this will help Buckley with the loss of his friend Yogi.
There are pictures of everyone now on the fiber page. If you're interested in someone's fleece please send me a note and I'll let you know if it's still available.
We'll be taking kid deposits for spring 2015. A $100 non-refundable* deposit is required to place your name on our kid waiting list. Order on the list to chose your kid is determined by when your deposit was received. 100% of your deposit will go towards the purchase price. * If we don't have a kid available for you or if the kid doesn't pass the health exam, then the $100 deposit is refunded. More information available under Pygoras, kid deposit.
Thank you everyone for following my blog.
