Fall is Coming

Posted on August 4, 2015 at 7:25 AM

Though it's still plenty hot, the days are getting shorter. Fall and winter will be here before we know it. I love the fall, it's my favorite time of year. Warm days and cool nights. Beautiful colors everywhere. A lot of work goes into getting ready for the winter on a farm. It's hard to believe with all our lush grass that in a short time we will be in need of a lot of hay. So this is the time of year that you will see farmers haying all their fields. We will b...

Kids and Spring!

Posted on April 26, 2015 at 2:15 PM

Finally spring is here. We have just kidded our last kids this week. We have 7 kids in all. 4 doelings and 3 bucklings. 3 sets of twins and 1 single. Cold & Wet Winter Blues

Posted on January 14, 2015 at 10:50 AM

Anyways, I'm very thankful that we decided not to breed till later so that we have a better chance this year of the kids being born in decent weather. We do have heated pens that we can bring them into but last year a couple surprised us by trying to have their kids outside in the cold.

Posted on December 12, 2014 at 12:20 AM

As Christmas approaches so the season of festivals winds down for us. Last weekend I attended the Winter Art Market in Rome, Ga and had a good time despite the cold and rainy weather. This Saturday is the last of our events for the year. It's the open house for the Vision Gallery in Summerville, Ga. from noon till 4pm. I will be there doing spinning demos and showing off my new Pygora fingerless gloves. They are so soft and glamorous.

Day 56 Chronicles of Showing

Posted on October 21, 2014 at 7:10 AM

Only 4 days left till SAFF, the Southeastern Animal Fiber Festival and Pygora Goat show. Life on a farm is full of twists and turns. Sometimes it's full of joy and wonder, sometimes there is disappointment.

Our horse hurt her shoulder this summer and there hasn't been much improvement so she is going to see the vets at UT (Unniversity of Tennessee) for some chiropractic care and possible xrays.
